INFO:
Kurdish militants have declared a ceasefire in their 40-year conflict with Turkey days after its founder called for the group to disarm. The PKK, which the UK government has designated a proscribed terror group, announced in a statement that they were declaring a ceasefire and beginning a new ‘historical process’ in the region. The declaration from the group looks set to end a conflict which has claimed thousands of lives since it began in 1984.
