[BTS + Final] 👉 Sapporo Canada campaign shot in Tokyo Japan 🎬 directed by @victor_boccard 📣 Director's note 📝 Every transition was achieved as much as possible in-camera, utilizing a crane and some very old-school techniques. One particularly cool and challenging shot involved a periscope performing a 360-degree roll while pulling back just 2 cm above the table, then booming down. Thanks to the veteran grip team, we managed to create all these shots exactly as I had envisioned, without relying on high-tech equipment. In this way, the spot is quite low-tech, favoring practical effects, in an era of fast-paced transitions. I try to shoot on film whenever possible, but budget and time constraints, along with the need for precise match-cuts, necessitated the use of high-quality monitors. Therefore, we decided to shoot digitally. However, with Erwan, the DOP, we opted for a film print process, which involves printing the frames on film, scanning them, and then reviewing them. I almost forgot I was shooting a commercial, and had so much fun creating basic but still efficient camera moves. I’m a geek, whenever tons of stuff are happening at the same time, I’m so happy. For exemple, in the Ski lodge (which is not at all in the mountains but near Tokyo ) the fake snow being thrown in the scene and the backdrop are real, but they do the trick !
