Six years ago I visited the Memphis Zoo for the first time and this polar bear broke my heart. I hoped coming back today I’d find it in a better atmosphere and calmer spirits - I did not. So many zoo guests were commenting that the polar bears “dancing” was so cute, but the reality is that when polar bears pace like this, it’s a sign of stress, anxiety, or boredom due to a lack of natural stimuli and a poor environment. I am stunned that this still continues. Memphis zoo, shame on you!
